Frequently Asked Questions
About the Product & Quality
What exactly is a Pashmina, and how is it different from Cashmere?
Pashmina is the original, traditional name for the finest grade of cashmere. While all Pashmina is cashmere, not all cashmere is Pashmina.
- Source: Our Pashminas come specifically from the soft undercoat of the rare Changthangi goat found at the extreme altitudes of the Himalayas.
- Finest Fibre: The fibres used for a true Pashmina are typically finer (around 12-15 microns) than standard cashmere, which makes them incredibly light yet warmer.
- The Art: A true Pashmina is defined by its manual production—it is hand-spun and hand-woven by skilled artisans, which adds to its unique softness and delicate drape.
Why are true Pashminas considered an investment piece?
The value of a genuine Pashmina comes from three key factors:
- Rarity of Source: The fine wool is only collected once a year from a specific, high-altitude goat breed.
- Generational Craftsmanship: Each piece is hand-woven by master artisans using traditional techniques passed down through generations, making every Pashmina unique.
- Longevity: When cared for properly, a pure Pashmina stole is exceptionally durable and can truly last for generations.
Are your Pashminas 100% pure?
Yes. We are committed to providing you with the purest form of this textile. Our focus is on sourcing the most lightweight, 100% pure Pashmina cashmere. We believe in transparency and honesty in our materials, ensuring you receive the quality and investment piece you expect.
Why are there no tags on my Pashmina?
For the authenticity and longevity of this delicate fabric, we have decided not to sew permanent labels onto our stoles. Adding a tag requires sewing through the fine, hand-woven material, which can cause damage or distortion over time. We prefer to keep the weave intact, ensuring the purity and drape of your investment piece are maintained. All care instructions are available on our website.
